Sometimes learning is just better in the room

We love the convenience of virtual CPE and member events (and we know you do, too). But sometimes, there’s real value in closing the laptop and connecting face-to-face.

In-person learning gives you something that’s hard to recreate on a screen: direct access to the instructor and the collective experience of everyone around you. Ask a follow-up question. Stick around after the session to talk through a situation you’re facing. Hear another CPA ask the question you didn’t even know you had.

And some of the best takeaways may not come from the slides at all. They happen during a break when you compare notes with someone tackling the same challenge, hear how another firm or organization approaches an issue, or make a connection with a fellow CPA you can call down the road.

There’s also something to be said for stepping away from the emails, Teams messages and everyday distractions for a few hours and giving your full attention to learning.

Virtual CPE and member events aren’t going anywhere - and neither are in-person opportunities. Both have their place. But if it’s been a while since you’ve joined us in the room, maybe it’s time to give in-person another look.
