Abby Hood, CFO and VP of Administration, Science Center of Iowa
Abby Hood, CPA, is the CFO and Vice President of Administration at the Science Center of Iowa (a 501(c)3) and oversees all financial aspects, human resources, visitor/guest services, volunteer program, and IT consultant. Prior to joining the Science Center of Iowa in January 2024, Abby was an auditor at MHCS P.C. for 12 years working with various non-profits and real estate entities. When not working, Abby enjoys golfing, gardening, and going on adventures with her 7- and 10-year-old nieces.
Amanda Briggs, Chief Financial & Admin Officer, Greater Des Moines Partnership
Amanda Briggs, CPA, serves as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the Greater Des Moines Partnership, where she provides executive leadership for financial strategy, contract management, administrative operations and organizational effectiveness. Prior to joining the Partnership, she served as Chief Financial Officer for YSS for four years. Amanda has more than 18 years of finance and accounting experience, including 12 years in the nonprofit sector.
Throughout her career, Amanda has earned a reputation for strengthening organizations through strategic financial leadership, operational excellence and process improvement. She has successfully led teams ranging from more than 20 professionals to high-performing teams of two, consistently implementing best practices that strengthen internal controls while improving efficiency and productivity. Her experience includes developing scorecards, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and partnering with other executive leadership to advance strategic planning and organizational performance.
Passionate about using financial information to drive better business decisions, Amanda has implemented processes that improve the accuracy, transparency and timeliness of financial reporting, including monthly financial review meetings that empower leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions. She has also led multiple accounting and payroll system implementations, that have included complex data conversions, helped establish a new nonprofit entity and developed an innovative Shared Services Model that enhances operational effectiveness and long-term financial sustainability for organizations.
A lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, Amanda is deeply committed to serving her community and advancing sound financial stewardship within the nonprofit sector. She enjoys sharing practical strategies and real-world experiences that help finance professionals strengthen their organizations, improve operational performance and create lasting impact.

Cheryl Tuttle, CAAS Chief Financial Officer at CLA. Cheryl provides financial leadership and strategic oversight for nonprofit organizations through CLA’s Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS). Over 20 years of experience delivering assurance, accounting, and advisory services exclusively to nonprofit clients. Cheryl’s consulting experience includes financial operations, audit readiness, system optimization, and board governance support. Cheryl is experienced in guiding organizations through transitions, compliance reviews, and financial reporting improvements. Cheryl is knowledgeable in nonprofit financial strategy, policy development, and operational efficiency. Cheryl has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Iowa State University. Cheryl is involved with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and serves as Treasurer for Dress for Success Des Moines.
Daniel Conway, Lead Accountant, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation
Dan Conway, CPA, CGMA, is the Lead Accountant at Iowa Farm Bureau, where he has spent the past eight years doing reporting, tax and compliance. Prior to joining the Iowa Farm Bureau, Dan spent six years in public accounting, specializing in audit, tax and advisory services for nonprofit organizations of varying sizes and missions. Dan also serves as Chair of the Iowa Society of CPAs’ Nonprofit Committee, where he collaborates with fellow professionals to develop educational programing and promote best practices in nonprofit accounting and financial reporting. With experience in both public accounting and nonprofit financial management, Dan brings a practical perspective to the accounting, reporting, tax, and compliance challenges facing nonprofit organizations.
