Mark your calendars for our new Listening Hours! ISCPA CEO Cindy Adams and Carl Peterson, vice president of small firms at AICPA will be available to any member wishing to chat, bounce ideas or talk about the profession. It’s like those college office hours, without the dreaded exams. These sessions will take place 9-10 a.m. on the third Friday of each month through May 20222 via video conferencing (Zoom).

Cynthia S. Adams
Cindy Adams is CEO of the Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA), the largest professional organization dedicated to CPAs, accounting professionals and accounting students in Iowa. The organization’s mission is to advance the professional success of its members while protecting, enhancing, guiding and promoting the accounting profession on behalf of members working in public accounting, business, industry, government, nonprofit and education. In her role as CEO, Cindy oversees the organization’s budget, strategies, objectives and mission to its members.
Prior to joining ISCPA in 2012, Cindy was with Holmes Murphy in West Des Moines, serving in roles from accounting manager and controller to vice president of information technology. Cindy is on the board of directors of the CPA Society Executives Association, and serves on the accounting advisory board of Drake University. She also just completed her three-year term as the state executive representative to the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) National Accreditation Commission (NAC). Cindy received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Drake University, and is a certified public accountant (CPA), certified global management accountant (CGMA) and chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU).
Carl Peterson, CPA, is vice president of small firms at the AICPA where he serves as the small firm advocate and representative for the profession. Carl meets with small CPA firms regularly to understand their issues and represent these firms from an advocacy and firm development perspective. Peterson serves as the voice of small firms within the AICPA on standard-setting, regulatory and small business issues. He is responsible for ensuring AICPA initiatives continue to meet the needs of small firms.
