Van Surksum recognized with Iowa CPAs Month of Service Award

May 12, 2020

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Tyler Van Surksum was presented with the Iowa CPAs Month of Service Individual Community Spirit Award during the 2020 Annual Meeting on May 1.

The Community Spirit Award recognizes an individual for superior dedication across their community through commitment of time and resources as it relates to the Iowa CPAs Month of Service event held annually in September. The Iowa CPAs Month of Service event promotes community service across the state by ISCPA members and within the profession.

Tyler is a staff accountant at McGowen Hurst Clark & Smith (MHCS) in Winterset. Tyler states, “Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. You don’t have to be the best at it, and anybody can do it! I love volunteering because I enjoy contributing to where I live, I like meeting new people, it provides a sense of purpose for me, and it has helped me to discover new passions. Through volunteering, I have been challenged to step outside of my comfort zone, and through that, I have grown to become a better person. I encourage others to contribute to causes you care about.”
