Fiscal State of the Nation resolution update

February 3, 2020
In the December Iowa CPA, you read about our support of a Fiscal State of the Nation resolution and its status in the U.S. House of Representatives. We’re pleased to inform you of the Senate's recently introduced companion resolution (S.Con.Res.35) which was co-sponsored by Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst.

ISCPA thanks Sen. Ernst for her support of the resolution which requires the Comptroller General to present the U.S. Financial Report to a joint hearing of the House and Senate Budget Committees. We appreciate the efforts and commitment to fostering transparency in the federal government’s financial report. This resolution will help focus policymakers’ decision-making on the financial condition of the federal government. The House resolution, which was introduced in October 2019, currently has over 130 bipartisan cosponsors.
