Peer Review Resources

Peer review focuses on monitoring individuals' and firms' conformity with professional standards and is one of the self-regulatory tools used by the profession to protect the CPA hallmark and the public interest.

Enrollment in a peer review program is not required as a condition of membership in ISCPA, but is required as a condition of renewal of a permit to practice as a certified public accounting firm (including individual practitioners) by the Iowa Accountancy Examining Board (IAEB). A firm shall undergo, at least once every three years, a peer review conducted under the provisions outlined in 193A – Chapter 11 of the IAEB administrative rules.

EFFECTIVE JAN. 1, 2015 – Iowa has outsourced the administration of the peer review program for Iowa firms to the Illinois CPA Society.
