Lawrence A. McClelland
Mac McClelland, an attorney and accounting professional, is an associate of K2 Enterprises of Hammond, Louisiana, and Network Management Group Inc of Hutchinson, Kansas, where he specializes in operating systems and Internet technologies. He is owner and CEO of Boxlink Services, a commercial venture that provides e-mail services and web-site design and hosting for small and medium-sized businesses. Mac was formerly the director of the Centre for Financial Studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he lived and worked for seven years from 1990 to 1996. He was also a member of the faculty of the Advanced Business Programme, ranked as one of the top 100 MBA programs in the world by The Economist, where he taught business strategy and strategic management accounting. He gained his practical experience in information systems with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and has an established practice in business and technology consulting. Services offered include business and strategic planning, economic feasibility analysis, business valuation, advanced cost system analysis and design, network consulting and installation, and customized business and technology training. Mac has taught hundreds of continuing professional education seminars to accountants and business managers in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Southeast Asia, and is a regular speaker at the national conferences of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His presentations are highly rated, and he has won several awards for teaching excellence. Mac has been published in leading business and practitioner journals, including Tax Ideas, Computers in Accounting, Journal of Accounting Education , Chartered Accountants Journal of New Zealand, and the top-rated Journal of Accounting Research. 01/2004
Thomas G. Stephens
Thomas G. Stephens, Jr., received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (Major in Accounting) from Auburn University in 1985 and a Master of Science degree (Major in Finance) from Georgia State University in 1992. Mr. Stephens has seventeen years of full-time and part-time public accounting experience. Additionally, he has five years of experience as an internal auditor, two years of experience as a cost accounting manager, and two years of experience as a corporate controller. Presently, Mr. Stephens resides in Woodstock, Georgia where he provides consulting services to small businesses. In addition, Mr. Stephens develops and presents educational material to members of the accounting profession. He has lectured nationally on subjects such as internal controls for small businesses, practice management and marketing, computer hardware and software applications, tax strategies and compliance, and financial accounting standards and applications. Over the past eight years, Mr. Stephens has presented in excess of 300 educational programs to over 9,000 participants nationwide. 1/04
Steven M. Phelan, CPA is currently a tax manager and assistant technology manager at North Bay Associates, a family group office based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also owns a small tax and accounting practice as a side business. Prior to this, he spent 12 years in public accounting practice, with a primary focus on tax and technology consulting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds several vendor specific software certifications.
Steven is a member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs (OSCPA) and the American Institute of CPAs. Through the OSCPA, he has served on the board of directors, was instrumental in creating the New CPA Committee, served as chair of the Technology Committee, and is currently a member of the Taxation Committee. Recently, Steven was selected as a 2012 Trailblazer, an OSCPA member who is under 40, recognizing innovation, professional dedication and community commitment. He also received the OSCPA President’s Award for his work with the New CPA Committee. Steven is also active in the Mustang, Oklahoma community serving as Treasurer for Friends of the Mustang Public Library, Inc.
Mr. Phelan is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences sponsored by the OSCPA and other local and state organizations. Steven was recently added as the newest member of the K2 Enterprise team where he speaks throughout the nation. Session topics include a variety of computer software titles, such as Excel, Word and QuickBooks as well as covering general technology topics.
Steven has written a number of technology related articles for state and national publications. He is a frequent contributor to CPA Practice Advisor where he reviews various tax and accounting related software solutions.
