Lee has more than 20 years of accounting experience and specializes in working with nonprofit organizations. As a major contributor to BDO’s Institute for Nonprofit Excellence, he monitors current accounting, auditing, governance and finance issues affecting nonprofit organizations. Lee also consults with BDO clients, engagement teams and others around the country on various topics related the Single Audit Act and the OMB’s Uniformed Administrative Guidance (Supercircular).
He recently completed a fellowship with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) where he acted as a project manager focusing on emerging practice issues affecting the nonprofit industry.
Lee spends an extensive amount of time researching, writing, and disseminating information related to recent accounting and auditing pronouncements promulgated by the FASB, the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Auditing Standards Board (ASB), and other organizations that provide guidance to the nonprofit industry. Lee is an accomplished speaker and has presented on various nonprofit accounting, auditing, internal control, governance, financial reporting, and single audit issues.
