Suku V. Radia
Suku Radia is the CEO of Bankers Trust, a position which he assumed in March 2008. Prior to joining Bankers Trust, Suku served as the CFO of Meredith Corporation for eight years. Suku was managing partner of KPMG in Des Moines from 1993 to 2000, where he enjoyed a 25-year career.
Suku has been active in a number of professional, economic development, educational and charitable organizations. In 2010, he was inducted into the Iowa Business Hall of Fame and was also named the OneIowa Business Leader of the Year. In 2017, he received the Bravo award for his commitment to the arts and cultural organizations. Suku has been the convocation speaker at Iowa State University (2000), Drake University (2008) and Simpson College (2012).
Suku was named Best Metro Business Leader (2012, 2013, 2014 ,2015 and 2016), Best Minority Business Leader (2012, 2013, 2014,2015 and 2016) and Most Influential Business Leader (2013, 2014, 2015 ,2016 and 2017).
Connie Jasper Woodroof
Connie Jasper Woodroof is the NAIC liaison for StoneRiver, a position she has held since 2002. She helps StoneRiver and its clients keep abreast of events at the NAIC. Connie is active on several industry interested parties groups for NAIC issues and serve as a co-chair of the Blanks interested party group.
Connie began her career in the insurance industry in 1984 completing statutory filings for both Life and Property/Casualty companies. She spent nine years with the NAIC where she served in various capacities; reviewing of annual statements for quality, testing of RBC formulas and software during formula development, and assisting with the development and teaching of an industry educational series.
Connie is a volunteer on the national level for the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA), currently serving as a member of the Accounting, Risk Management, and Finance (ARF) and eLearning committees, and contributes to the IASA accounting textbooks. Woodroof holds a B.S. in Accounting and a M.A. in General Psychology.
Thomas F. Wheeland
Tom Wheeland is the national insurance services practice leader for BKD in St.Louis. Tom has nearly 30 years of experience providing corporate and insurance tax services. His experience includes serving property/casualty, life and health companies of all sizes with an emphasis on tax accounting and consulting.
Prior to joining BKD, Tom provided insurance tax services at two international firms and was the principle author of the white paper “Tax Accounting for Insurance Companies: A comparison of tax accounting under generally accepted and statutory accounting principles–2012 and beyond.” He is a frequent speaker at insurance tax forums, including the Insurance Tax Conference, Iowa Society of CPAs Insurance Industry Conference and the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association’s national, regional and local conferences. He has served on the SSAP 10 and FIN 48 working groups of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Tom is a 1984 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a 1988 graduate of St. Louis University School of Law. He is a licensed CPA and attorney.
Joe Schneider is a managing director with KPMG Corporate Finance LLC, the wholly owned investment banking subsidiary of KPMG LLP. Joe is based out of the Chicago office and focuses on the insurance sector, advising P&C and life carriers as well as insurance services firms such as insurtech companies, brokers, managing general agencies and third-party administrators on mergers & acquisitions, capital raising and other strategic matters.
Joe is also a recognized thought leader on autonomous vehicles and insurance, co-leading this initiative at KPMG. He has spoken widely on this topic, including at the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance at the United States Treasury. Additionally, Joe has been quoted or his team's work, has been cited in a wide variety of publications both in the United States and abroad, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, Time and Newsweek.
Gary Walljasper brings more than 20 years of strategic human resources consulting experience to The Carlson Group, LLC and Your Clear Next Step. His professional career has included multiple management and leadership roles involving extensive advisory work and partnership with middle and senior management. Gary’s areas of focus and expertise include leadership development/effectiveness, strategic talent management, human capital planning, individual and organization development, strategic recruitment/retention, team dynamics, career planning, M&A integration, work-life focus, and employee engagement. Known for his leadership development and coaching, Gary has presented at several conferences on a wide range of strategic initiatives, including talent and leadership development, human capital planning, and learning transfer. His diverse background of capabilities include: HR executive, corporate trainer/facilitator, leadership coach, and a leader of people.
John J. Hall is the founder and president of Hall Consulting, Inc. He has over 40 years of experience as a consultant, speaker, auditor and business owner. John has worked in senior leadership positions in large corporations and international public accounting firms. He is a member of the National Speakers Association, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
John specializes in skills training programs and conference presentations for CPAs, government and internal auditors, management groups, boards, and professional associations. He also coaches business and audit professionals in how to increase their effectiveness, clarify and meet their business and personal goals, and move their careers forward.
John is the author of “The Anti-Fraud Toolkit” and the award-winning book “Do What You Can! Simple Steps – Extraordinary Results.”
Ariane L. Pollack
Ariane Pollack is a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Chicago. She works in the firm's Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS) practice. The CMAAS practice specializes in helping clients identify solutions for complex accounting and financial reporting challenges related to significant transactions and capital markets activities. Ariane has worked with insurance clients for ten years in the U.S., in Chicago and McLean and in London.
Ariane has experience on engagements for U.S. GAAP, U.S. statutory, IFRS, and UK GAAP basis of accounting for a range of insurers. Her clients include life and annuity, property and casualty, general insurance, mortgage guaranty, and accident and health insurance entities. Some of Ariane's past engagements include assisting clients with various capital market activities including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and debt offerings, carve-outs, as well as GAAP conversions and accounting advisory services including the adoption of new accounting standards.
Ariane’s technical accounting expertise and financial reporting knowledge includes accounting for insurance contracts, business combinations, segment reporting, consolidation, SEC registration process, pro forma financial statements, financial instruments, foreign currency, goodwill and intangible impairment analyses, and other financial reporting topics. She has also worked on Solvency II regulatory requirements, actuarial remediation projects, and various benchmarking analyses for finance and actuarial processes and controls.
Ariane has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Indiana University, Bloomington; MBA, Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington and is a licensed CPA in Virginia and Illinois.
Elizabeth P. Nead
A speaker, coach and television host, Liz Nead is an expert in bringing life back to everyday life. Her passion, Nead Inspiration is impacting the lives of thousands with life coaching, magazine articles, public speaking and life improvement television. She directs and hosts an Emmy nominated television show called Life Dare which aired on Fox five days a week. Life Dare is an “unscripted” show inviting people to learn from experts and take a “challenge” to bring the lesson to life. She has authored several best selling books, "The 100 Day Journey," "Curry Up," an ethnic cookbook, "The 180 Life," and "20 Beautiful Women." Her work has been featuredranked on Buzzfeed and reviewed by the Huffington Post. She blogs for Huffington Post and She Knows. Liz is a skilled story-teller and teacher, most recently climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and competing in the Iowa Strongman Games. Whether she is climbing a mountain, flipping 300 pound tires, producing award winning television, or conducting experiences in her personal life, her audiences learn valuable lessons to build an influential life. 
Scott Bain is a director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services practice. He brings over 16 years of financial services experience, including seven years in audit and seven years in the corporate finance organization. Scott has extensive technical accounting, financial reporting, SEC reporting, and regulatory reporting experience. He primarily advises clients in the banking and insurance sectors and focuses on new standard implementation including Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), Leasing (ASC 842), and IFRS 9/CECL (ASC 326).
Richard Kefford is a senior manager SEC services for PwC. His background is auditing the financial reporting of international and domestic clients in the financial services industry. Richard is currently working in the SEC services group at PwC's national office, supporting clients and PwC engagement teams across the insurance and banking sectors with a variety of SEC periodic reporting and transaction related matters.
Previously, Richard was based in New York City, managing the delivery of audit services to public and non-public property and casualty (re)insurance companies and intermediaries, with reporting under US GAAP, IFRS and U.S.Statutory accounting frameworks.
Before moving to New York, Richard worked for PwC Australia also managing audit engagements, including two for top-20 ASX listed companies.
Richard is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and of the American Institute of CPAs in the United States. He is a licensed CPA in the State of New York.
Judy Goldberg is an executive director in EY’s professional practice and is the national director of the employee benefit plan practice. She has been with EY for 32 years and has specialized in employee benefit plan audits for 25 years. Judy is the past chair of the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plans Expert Panel and continues to serve as a member on the panel. She also serves on the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plans Audit Quality Center Executive Committee, is a member of the AICPA Audit Guide Revisions Task Force and the Audit Risk Alert Task Force, along with other AICPA task forces.
Judy is a frequent speaker at AICPA conferences and webinars. Judy received her BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist. She resides in Houston, Texas.
