Communication can be challenging, and when it goes wrong, long-term relationships are damaged, and often what’s being communicated gets all messed up! Fortunately, you can quickly learn to effectively communicate with a basic understanding of personality styles and a grasp of the key elements of effective communication. The result? Problems are solved, and trust and respect grows into thriving long-term relationships.

During this rapid-fire skill building (and fun!) presentation, Anne will ignite your courage to embrace effective communication with emotional intelligence. Empowered with the spark to start tough conversation on the right foot, you’ll learn a structure to keep the exchange moving in a constructive direction. You will also learn ways to spot communication style differences so the people you’re communicating with will be inclined to listen and participate, even when the communication gets challenging.

Speaker: Anne Bonney | Igniting Your Courage

10:15am - 11:30am (Central Time)

Life is full of uphills, speed bumps and roadblocks. Being able to maneuver past those obstacles can determine whether or not you feel successful and fulfilled in your life. It ain’t easy, and it takes intentional effort and skill building to increase your resilience for immediate reduction in overwhelm.
In this fun and engaging session, Anne Bonney will show you how to build resilience through an understanding of the characteristics of mentally tough individuals. You'll learn how to persevere despite challenges and failures, all while remaining positive and motivated. Walk away with an action plan and an empowered strategy to build mental toughness wherever you may need it in your life.

Speaker: Anne Bonney | Igniting Your Courage

11:40am - 12:30pm (Central Time)

The last two years were some of the most challenging ever, including racial and societal tension, political divisiveness, economic volatility and a global pandemic. Now, more than ever, intentional diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) should be top of mind for organizations as the world continues to experience the impact of these circumstances and, in many situations, are being brought to the workplace. Focusing on DEI is not only the right thing to do, but it can make good sense from a business perspective. According to The Diversity and Inclusion Revolution: Eight Powerful Truths by Juliet Bourke, organizations with inclusive cultures are twice as likely to meet or exceed financial targets, three times as likely to be high-performing and eight times more likely to achieve better business outcomes.

In this session, Tessa will share the importance of DEI in the workplace, the profession and the broader community. She will also share insights on Deloitte’s DEI journey as well as ideas for how organizations can empower teams by promoting a culture where every professional can feel valued, respected and engaged. Learn the role everyone can play in creating a more equitable environment – not only within the workforce, but also in our marketplaces, and in society more broadly.

Speaker: Tessa Schneider | Deloitte

1:10pm - 2:10pm (Central Time)

As leaders, sometimes you have to take a step back to see the full picture in order to solve the most challenging problems. What does this mean to you and how does this impact your performance and how you show up as a leader? In this interactive session, Rick will engage the audience through a collaborative activity that includes thought-provoking questions and action items to execute. Learn how to bust apart silos and work as a team to overcome obstacles for better communication, leadership and collaboration.

Speaker: Rick Kievits, MAcc

2:25pm - 3:40pm (Central Time)

If the last few years have taught us anything, it's that unexpected change is the new norm, and the pressure to navigate it falls on leaders. We've seen increased anxiety, burnout, turnover, and poor decision-making as a result. But what if we don't have to? What if, we could lead well in any situation simply by improving confidence? In this session Erik uses the Three T's of Confidence to equip new and seasoned leaders with tools to help build authentic confidence, navigate change and find balance in an unbalanced world. You'll walk aways feeling more confident and better equipped to lead at new levels…immediately!

Speaker: Erik Dominguez

3:50pm - 4:50pm (Central Time)

Today, modern workplaces have personnel spanning four different generations with differing views on not only the work itself, but also workplace communication. Communicating well across the generations in the workplace is important, but challenging. How do you capture your audience’s attention? How can your messaging land effectively? This interactive presentation will discuss the workplace ethos of the generations currently in the workforce and present strategies and best practices for effective professional communication.

Speaker: Jamie Sass | Ivy College of Business Writing and Speaking Center, Iowa State University
