Aaron Warner, Founder & President

Aaron R. Warner has more than 25 years of experience in information technology, security and risk management. He specializes in organizational security and applying technology, process and people to solve complex challenges. As the CIO and CTO of biotech leader Integrated DNA Technologies, Aaron assembled an amazing team of bright people who grew IDT from 13 employees to nearly 1,000, from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions in revenue, and built facilities worldwide until the sun never set on the company. From that experience, Aaron affirmed that how we treat others—customers, employees, even strangers—reflects on who we are and what we can accomplish together. To promote this philosophy in the world of cybersecurity, Aaron created ProCircular, a specialized firm that prepares and protects organizations against an ever-changing landscape of hackers, compliance risks and data breaches. Aaron has been recognized by Gartner and Microsoft, published articles and whitepapers, and sits on the board of several startups and charitable organizations. He’s a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a certified Security+ engineer and a full member of the FBI/DHS Infragard partnership. He received undergraduate degrees in management information systems and computer science from the University of Iowa and an MBA from the Tippie College of Business.

Alison VanOtterloo, SVP, Commercial & Professional Ins., Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company

Alison VanOtterloo is vice president, internal audit at Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company in Algona, Iowa. Prior to joining Pharmacists Mutual, Alison was with Ernst & Young, LLP as a financial auditor. Alison received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, in accounting, from the University of Northern Iowa and has earned her CPA, CIA and AIAF designations. In addition to her audit duties, Alison leads several learning and development initiatives at Pharmacists Mutual. Alison serves on the board of directors for the Iowa Society of CPAs, Kossuth County Economic Development and the Algona Community School Foundation. She is an active member of the Algona Rotary Club. Alison is a graduate of the 2014 AICPA Leadership Academy. She lives in Algona with her husband and their four children.

CJ Osborn, Program Manager - Revenue Growth

CJ Osborn is a marketing expert who use analytics, organizational skills, and multi-industry experience to successfully grow revenue and profitability. His work includes strategy development, business development/planning, business analysis, brand and technology licensing, product management and marketing management; with nationally-recognized brands in the industry sectors of business consulting, windows and doors, agriculture, financial services, home appliances, and process controls.

At CIRAS, CJ combines his professional experience with capabilities from Iowa State University and outside experts, to solve marketing and sales issues that constrain revenue growth or profitability. Frequent tools include marketing diagnostics, market assessments, value propositions, and marketing and sales insights.

Chad Hart, Professor, Economics

Chad Hart was born and raised in southwest Missouri and his parents raised a few cattle and operated a small meat locker. Chad received a B.S. in economics with minors in mathematics, history, and astronomy from Southwest Missouri State University in 1991. He moved to Iowa in the summer of 1991 to pursue graduate education, and received a Ph.D. in economics and statistics in 1999 from Iowa State University. Upon graduation, Chad worked as a researcher at CARD at Iowa State. Then he joined the faculty in 2008. His main research areas are in agricultural marketing and risk management.

Debi Durham, Director, Iowa Economic Development Authority

Debi V. Durham was named director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA, formerly Iowa Department of Economic Development) in January 2011 by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad. Prior to joining IEDA, Durham served as president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. In 2016, Director Durham was recognized by the Des Moines Business Record as a Women of Influence, and in 2014, she was named a Janus Fellow by the Janus Institute, an organization with the mission of contributing to the body of knowledge in economic development and advancing its practice. In 2009, the Downtown Rotary Club in Sioux City recognized Durham as their Key Way award winner, designating a local leader who has “contributed greatly to the health and prosperity of the area through business and community involvement.” Durham was also recognized by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry as one of “Five Iowa Women You Should Know” in 2007. In 2003, she was named to the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame and was the Republican Lt. Gubernatorial candidate in 2002. Durham holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing and Management from Missouri Southern State University. [2017]

James Lindell, President, Thorsten Consulting Group Inc

James (Jim) T. Lindell is the president of a Wisconsin based provider of strategic and financial consulting and executive coaching. Jim has an extensive background in senior management including positions as CFO and corporate assistant controller. He has worked with a variety of industries including: manufacturing, health care, non-profit, distribution and food processing. Jim has been involved in more than 50 M&A projects. He is a CPA with experience at several local and regional accounting firms. He is a TEC Chairman (The Executive Committee), a member (and instructor) for the American Institute of CPA’s, the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs and a member of Wisconsin Chapter of National Speaker Association. Jim a 12-time recipient of the AICPA Outstanding Discussion Leader Award. Jim has received the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation and is one of less than 10 CPAs to hold this credential.

John Norem, Chief Innovation Officer, Sukup Manufacturing Co

Hank Norem, CPA, is the Chief Innovation Officer at Sukup Manufacturing Co., an innovative ag manufacturing company. In his capacity as CIO, Hank is responsible for the oversight of Sukup Innovations, an entity that also includes Ramco Innovations, specializing in industrial automation products and services, and Maple Studios, a startup studio supporting early-stage industrial companies. 

Hank serves as Chief Technology Officer and Chair of the Iowa Innovation Council where he co-chairs the Advanced Manufacturing sub-group, which helped launch the Manufacturing 4.0 grant program. As a licensed CPA and graduate of UMKC’s MBA program, Hank combines his passion for studying and executing strategic business transactions with his financial expertise to drive technology developments throughout the Midwest.

Lindsay Pilgrim, VP of Human Resources, Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company

Lindsay Pilgrim has worked in strategic HR roles for over 20 years in industries ranging from healthcare, technology, distribution, and insurance. Currently, Lindsay serves as the Vice President of Human Resources for Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group, where she oversees the HR functions for about 300 employees nationwide. Lindsay is originally from NE Iowa and holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. In her spare time, Lindsay attends the activities for her 4 kids, while trying to squeeze in some boating and golfing in the summer months.

Luke Strawhecker, Senior Recruiter, The Reserves Network

Luke Strawhecker is a senior recruiter with The Reserves Network (TRN), formerly known as Aureus Group. Hailing from Kearney Nebraska, Luke earned his Business Administration Degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. His early exposure to the intricacies of small business was gained working alongside is father at a young age and ignited his passion for fostering connections and aiding individuals. Specializing in accounting and finance recruitment, Luke engages with professionals guiding them towards rewarding career opportunities. Beyond the professional realm, he maintains an active lifestyle and cherishes moments with family and friends. Whether pursuing fitness at the gym, enjoying leisurely walks with his dog, or embarking on adventures with his wife, he finds joy in a balanced life. Stephen Bramlage Jr, CFO, Casey's General Stores Inc

Steve Bramlage is CFO for Casey’s General Stores, Inc. Bramlage serves as the steward of Casey’s financials building upon the company’s reputation for fiscal discipline and sound financial management. Prior to Casey’s, Bramlage was CFO at Aramark, a $16 billion food, facilities and uniform services provider. In that role, he helped the company balance and strengthen revenue, margin, EBITDA and free cash flow, while improving financial flexibility and making several key strategic acquisitions.

Prior to Aramark, Bramlage was CFO at Owens-Illinois, the world’s largest manufacturer of glass, and held several financial leadership roles at PPG Industries, Eli-Lilly and Ernst & Young. Bramlage holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton.
