Registration and Course Information

Registration Fees

All course registrations must be accompanied by full payment in the form of a check or credit/debit card (MasterCard or Visa). ISCPA does not invoice for course registration fees. Please make checks payable to the Iowa Society of CPAs.

Member – To qualify for the ISCPA member fee, a registrant must be either an individual member of ISCPA or another state CPA society.

Nonmember – Nonmembers are required to pay an additional fee unless otherwise noted.

AICPA Members – Individual members of AICPA attending ISCPA-sponsored group study programs developed by AICPA are entitled to a $30 discount (4-hour courses excluded). Please refer to the individual course listing for fee information.

Discounted Fee – Registrants will receive a $30 discount off the appropriate fee if their paid registration is postmarked or submitted online at least 21 calendar days prior to the program.

Note: The postmark date to receive the discounted fee for conferences will be 14 calendar days prior to the program.

Your registration fee includes course materials, refreshment breaks, and lunch (for 8 and 16 hour seminars) unless otherwise specified in the course announcement. If the course requires the manual to be mailed prior to the course, the manual will not be shipped prior to receipt of the registration fee.

You may substitute another individual for your registration up to the first day of the course. However, please contact the ISCPA office about this change. The substitute is subject to the member/nonmember fee policy.

Course Confirmation

A confirmation will be sent for each paid course registration received, normally the same or next business day. The confirmation will contain the date, time, and location. On rare occasions there are changes, please check the information carefully. If you have registered and not received your confirmation by 72 hours prior to the course, contact the ISCPA office to confirm that your registration was received.

Cancellation, Refund, Transfer, and Payment Policies

  1. There will be no refunds on cancellations received within 7 calendar days of the seminar. Participants will be allowed to transfer to another course in lieu of forfeiture, but will not be entitled to a refund for cancellation of the substituted course. Funds on account that are nonrefundable must be used by the end of the current fiscal year (May 1-April 30) or they will be forfeited. Cancellation fees may apply. Cancellations/Transfers will not be accepted the day of the course.
  2. Transfers received 3-5 weekdays or less prior to class may be subject to a fee since meal guarantees have been provided to the hotel and participant manuals have already been printed/purchased.
  3. There will be a forfeiture charge of $15, regardless of when the participant cancels, if a manual has been mailed to the participant. If the course requires the manual be mailed prior to the course, the manual must be returned to the ISCPA office before the refund, less the $15 forfeiture, can be made.

Course Times and Credit

Most ISCPA seminars begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. Seminars with a different time schedule list the appropriate start and end times with the course description. Conference schedules vary—consult the online catalog and conference brochures for accurate start and end times. Course confirmations specify the start and end times. Registration opens 30 minutes before the course starts.

Participants attending ISCPA CPE programs are required to sign-in twice at every eight-hour course. Sign-in is required before the class begins and at the end of the day.

Courses in this catalog are designed to qualify for credit under the Iowa Accountancy Examining Board rules. Some courses also qualify for Continuing Legal Education, CFP®, and other specialty designations.

Schedule Changes and Course Cancellations by ISCPA

Notification will be sent in advance of changes in course locations, dates, or cancellations. When ISCPA cancels a program, participants will receive a full refund. In the event a program is canceled, ISCPA is not responsible for penalties incurred by registrants who must cancel travel arrangements. Note: early registration helps avoid course cancellations.

Severe Weather Policy

In the case of severe weather, courses will be held as long as the facility is open and the instructor is present.

When an ISCPA-sponsored event is canceled due to severe weather, ISCPA will make every possible effort to contact registrants immediately. Staff will use the most recent information in our database, therefore, please keep your contact information current.

If you are registered for an event that is canceled due to severe weather, you will receive a full refund. If you are unable to attend an event due to severe weather, but the event has not been canceled, you must notify ISCPA the day of the scheduled event. In this case, you will be issued a credit that may be used for another ISCPA-sponsored event within one year of the original event date.

If you wish to verify if an educational event is going to be held as scheduled, please contact the ISCPA office.

For Satellite broadcasts, please monitor local media announcements for facility closings. You may also contact the ISCPA office to verify the status.

Special Needs

If you have special needs, including dietary restrictions, please attach a written description to your registration form or contact the ISCPA office at least five business days prior to the course.

Cellular Telephones

As a professional courtesy, please switch cell phones to silent mode while attending any ISCPA-sponsored program.

Meeting Room Temperature

Meeting room temperature is difficult to control; therefore, please dress in layers to ensure your comfort.

CPE Credit for Certified Financial Planners

If you plan to attend an ISCPA-sponsored event that is approved for CE credit for CFP® credential, please contact the CPE department prior to the seminar's scheduled date.
